Mid-Autumn Activities For Full Hearts Under The Full Moon!
In 2022, the Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 10th of September. While you prepare for your celebrations, let’s take a look at some of the stories and traditions of this special occasion! The LolliBox Team has even come up with a series of Mid-Autumn activities that will make any Mid-Autumn event shine bright like the full moon!
1. The Glorious Full Moon
The moon is believed to be the fullest and brightest on the night of the Mid-Autumn festival. Did you know that a round, full moon is associated with completeness and hence, reunions? This is why Mid-Autumn is the time for families and friends to gather and commemorate the occasion with various Mid-Autumn activities.
So, this is the perfect time to admire the beauty of the moon with a pair of moon gazing binoculars! For your Mid-Autumn activities, consider conducting a craft workshop where young participants will have fun customising their own binoculars to bring around on a night stroll!
2. Bright and Beautiful Lanterns
A Mid-Autumn celebration only kicks into full swing when there are bright and colourful lanterns around! Traditionally, lanterns were used to brighten up the pathways as people stayed up to admire and worship the full moon. They also symbolise prosperity, so families traditionally hung them up on display which simultaneously created a festive atmosphere for all.
One Mid-Autumn activity that will be plenty of fun would be to hold a lantern walk once the sun sets. Have children decorate their own lanterns and then show them off on a moonlit walk that brings a whole community of families together!
Another option would be to customise your very own beautiful lantern display. Not only will this festive decor make participating in other Mid-Autumn activities even more enjoyable, but it will also double up as a pretty photo spot to capture good memories!
3. Delicious Mooncakes
Mooncakes are usually round in shape just like the full moon. Nowadays, there are many creative mooncake flavours, but traditional ones include an egg yolk centre which symbolises the moon in all its glory. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, families enjoy mooncakes together on the special night.
Combining the joys of beautiful lanterns and mooncakes together, these Mooncake Faces Lanterns will surely be a hit at any Mid-Autumn celebration! Guests will be delighted to tote around their adorable masterpieces while they enjoy their Mid-Autumn activities!
4. The Legend of Chang’e
According to popular Chinese folklore, Chang’e became the goddess of the moon after she drank an elixir to prevent a villian from getting hold of it, leaving her husband behind. It is believed that the Mid-Autumn Festival was when her heartbroken husband, Houyi, would honour Chang’e by worshipping the moon with food offerings.
This year, meet the legendary Chang’e and her companion on the moon, the jade rabbit! In this exciting Mid-Autumn activity, guests can greet and snap a fun photo with our two friendly mascots as they spread loads of joy around your event space!
With that, we hope you have learnt more about the upcoming festival and are looking forward to this round-up of wonderful Mid-Autumn activities that we have to share!
