What makes a great National Day event?

For us, it is when we can experience the event as a whole family where there are activities to attract all ages and when you leave with fond memories of your day.

This year, we planned a fun-filled National Day for HDB Malls. At 17 locations across Singapore, everyday Singaporeans got to express their patriotism to their heart’s content!

Here are some of the highlights –

1. Mama Shop

Quite a throwback, ain’t it?

Mama Shops used to be a staple in neighbourhood estates but they have now become almost a thing of the past. During CPG’s National Day event celebrations, we brought this iconic “store” back in a redemption activity!

Event participants just need to like the mall’s FB pages to redeem a free totebag. They can then choose any 3 items from the cart – paper planes, National Day flags, Mamee and more!

2. Hourly National Day Craft Workshops

During the 3 hour event, event participants got to enjoy a craft workshop that features a different craft every hour! They got to create a dragon playground wooden keychain, a felt merlion hand puppet and a Singapore Icons Scratch Art!

3. Balloon Sculpting

Balloons never fail to attract the little ones. It is one of our hottest stations where patient parents queue to get a customized balloon sculpture for their children! Check out the National Day themed designs below. Can you identify them?

4) Stage Programme (Tunes, Magic Show and Games!)

What is National Day without its fun iconic songs? At selected malls, our stage programme had event participants singing along to all the classics through the years!

Aside from that, the magic show dazzled and tickled both kids and adults! For added engagement, the stage games created an audience interaction that was funny and interactive at the same time!

5) Facebook contests

All these are just on-site activities! Over on the FB pages on the HDB Malls, we had a series of 5 FB contests where participants can win prizes. These contests were designed to be graphically appealing and easy to respond to.
