How-To Guide To Planning The Best Chinese New Year Event

With Chinese New Year falling at the end of January next year, most of you might have your Chinese New Year Event plans underway.

This Chinese New Year also marks the first year with most, if not all, restrictions lifted which means large gatherings will be back with a vengeance. If you are on the fence on what you could be planning for Chinese New Year, read on to check out our guide on planning one!

1. Have A Theme and Title

Yes, Chinese New Year can already be a theme and title. That said, to stand out from the many many Chinese New Year events taking place all over Singapore, you have to do more than the basic theme and title. Consider the direction and possible interesting activities that you want to have and from there, think of a name that can explain all your activities together. The more cohesive it is, the easier your shoppers can gain an understanding of your event.

For example, Spring Into Prosperity Tu-gather. The pun in the last word offers a link that is specific to this year and the phrase before is just right for the occasion.

2. Brainstorm activities

Our years of experience have bestowed upon us that simplicity is best. Many times, when you want to plan for an event, you tend to want to provide many activities to cater to different age groups, different consumer spending tiers, etc. The trouble this brings is that many shoppers are left boggled at the plethora of choices and often times, your customer service staff is left to handle their many queries. Thus, keep your activity mechanisms simple for a solid event that can run seamlessly.

For example, building on our imaginary Spring Into Prosperity Tu-Gather, we can have 3 engagement and 3 redemption activities going on. Below is a sample of our event plan –

3. Fine-tuning

With the skeleton of your event settled, you can now spend time to fine-tune your event! Fine-tuning gives you the option to run through your ideas again to check if the activities are appealing to your target audience or if the minimum spending aids in increasing sales for your tenants.

Optional Step: Hire an events management agency to help you from start to end

The above are steps to guide you in any event. Of course, if you are bogged down with management work, you can always outsource the planning part so that an events company can handle the reins for you. The benefit is that you only have one person to liaise with as opposed to multiple persons which can be time-consuming and draining for you!
